India’s tour to the West Indies will be the first show of the Indian team after winning the world cup.
Some of the biggest players like Dhoni, Tendulkar, Sehwag and Gambhir are out of the team which means the team that you will see in West Indies will have some new faces.
Suresh Raina will captain the side in limited overs cricket and this will be a great opportunity for him to prove himself for future. Raina also thinks that it is a great opportunity for all the players who have done in the domestic competition and are included in the side.
Some of the batsmen who have been given an opportunity include Manoj Tiwary, Shikhar Dhawan, S Badrinath and Rohit Sharma.
All these batsmen have done pretty well in the domestic competition and all eyes will be set on them to perform well in the Caribbean. Raina has led a rather in-experienced India side to the Zimbabwe tour in 2010. Some of the key players like Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh and Virender Sehwag will also miss first five ODI’s and a T-20 international. Though Dhoni and Zaheer will return for the test series but rest will remain quite the same.
Raina also stated that he has played under Anil Kumble, Rahul Dravid and MS Dhoni and have learnt a lot from all of them and is confident to perform well. Along with a number of players making debut for team India it will be the debut tour for the newly appointed coach Duncan Fletcher.
Fletcher also has a point to prove after he was being heavily criticised by the English authorities in 2007 for the rotation policy. He stated that any team playing at home is difficult to beat and it will be a tough tour for India.
This series will prove where team India is heading after winning the world cup 2011. The youngsters like Shikhar Dhawan and Manoj Tiwary have been around for quite a while and will be trying to make a mark in the upcoming series. Both of them along with Badrinath seemed to be in great touch in the recently concluded IPL 4.
On the bowling front India will be going with a spin heavy attack and it will be interesting to see how they perform in West Indies which is thought to be a fast bowlers paradise. West Indies team is good and have the capability to upset any side on their day. But they might have done a mistake by not including Gayle in the side.
